Batman Introduces Joker’s Replacement for Harley Quinn

DC has been doing a great job at changing Harley Quinn for the better, making her move on from The Joker and becoming her own independent woman. Everything from Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) and the DC Universe animated series has done everything to divorce her from the villain. It seems like Joker needs his own femme fatale as Batman #89 introduces Harley Quinn's replacement: Punchline.

According to CBR, Punchline will make a one-panel appearance in the upcoming Batman #89. DC has also hyped up Batman #89 as the start of a new storyline called Joker War so we can expect her to play some sort of role in that storyline. Details on Punchline and her personality are slim-to-none at this point but we're sure they will be revealed soon.

This is the synopsis for Batman #89:

Batman must stop assassins from killing Lucius Fox!! If his five main suspects—Deathstroke, Merlyn, Cheshire, Gunsmith, and Mr. Teeth—were all hired for the same purpose, then what sinister figure lurking in the shadows is pulling all the strings? Can the World's Greatest Detective figure out who ordered the hit?
Whoever it is, one victim will fall under their attack!

Harley Quinn will also make an appearance in the comic, teaming up with Catwoman. She will likely encounter Punchline sometime during the storyline, though we'll have to wait and see. Since Joker is "replacing" Harley with Punchline, we're sure that the mad villain will be sicking his new ally on his ex-girlfriend.

Batman #89 will be coming out this month on February 19.
