Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) might have just made its big debut today, but it looks like the film's director Cathy Yan is looking forward to another classic Harley Quinn team-up, this time, with Poison Ivy.
Yan just recently spoke in an interview with The Wrap to help promote her new DC movie, and during the discussion with the entertainment news outlet, the filmmaker opened up about other team-ups that she'd like to see Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn in.
While Harley Quinn's girl gang is pretty great on its own, Yan would also like to see Poison Ivy working together with Harleen Quinzel and see a relationship blossom between the two.
"I would love to see Poison Ivy and I would certainly love to see the relationship between Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy," Yan admitted in her interview with the entertainment news outlet.
It really shouldn't come as a surprise to hear Yan talk about Harley and Ivy. The duo has become pretty popular over the years, especially after the Harley Quinn show has the two teaming up together. Harley and Ivy started off as friends in Batman: The Animated Series, but after some time, the two eventually developed a relationship in other media like in the Harley Quinn animated series. They also developed a romance in DC's New 52 relaunch.
After her toxic relationship with the Joker, Harley's romance with Ivy is a breath of fresh air for the character's fans.
It would definitely be a delight to see that relationship on the big screen. Let's wait and see.
