Avengers: Infinity War Directors React To The Film’s Academy Award Nomination

Marvel Studios has been having a field day at this year's Academy Awards. Not only did Black Panther earn a nomination for Best Picture, but the film also earned nods for six other categories including Best Production Design, Best Original Music Score, Best Sound Editing, Best Costume Design, and Best Sound Mixing.

Aside from Black Panther, Marvel's culminating movie Avengers: Infinity War also earned a nomination for Best Visual Effects. Now, celebrating the nod, Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo have taken to Twitter to congratulate the film's VFX team for their work and to congratulate Black Panther for its wins.

"We are very proud of our incredible vfx team for their spectacular work on Infinity War. A standing ovation for their well deserved Oscar nomination. And a HUGE congratulations to Ryan Coogler, Kevin Feige, Nate Moore, and the entire @theblackpanther team on their 7 nominations," the Russo brothers wrote on their post.

It's easy to see why Infinity War earned a nomination for Best Visual Effects. The film had featured quite a number of digital and visual effects that helped bring the Avengers' and Thanos' story to life. A number of characters and costumes in the film were constructed entirely from CGI. This includes the film's lead villain, Thanos.

While it's unfortunate that Infinity War reaped only one nomination during this year's Oscars, it's pretty understandable considering the fact that Disney was focusing its Oscar Campaign on Black Panther. While many fans immensely enjoyed Infinity War, Ryan Coogler's Black Panther broke so much ground for the comic book industry.

Avengers: Infinity War's sequel, Avengers: Endgame, is scheduled to premiere on April 26, 2019.
