Avengers: Endgame Star Tessa Thompson Responds to Fans Shipping Captain Marvel With Valkyrie and Thor

It's no secret that Tessa Thompson would love the Marvel Cinematic Universe to be more open to LGBTQ characters, as the actress was hoping her portrayal of Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok would lean towards the bisexual side, though that wasn't the direction they chose. Still, fans love the idea of having more LGBTQ characters in the MCU and have even shipped Valkyrie with Captain Marvel after learning both heroes would be in Avengers: Endgame.

Thompson and Captain Marvel star Brie Larson have also been teasing fans by sharing fan art of Carol and Valkyrie as a couple. Thompson was finally asked about her reaction to this fanship by LA Times and the actress is pretty ecstatic about it.

"That's wild!It didn't even occur to me, legitimately, that it was necessarily a romantic thing. I don't even know what happens in the canon in terms of those characters or if they ever intersect, but I just love the idea of more women Marvel characters getting to intersect. I just think it's so cool and it's time and why not? There's so many compelling female characters inside of the MCU."

While she does enjoy the ship fans have made for her and Larson's characters, the actress has also admitted that she isn't against anyone pairing up Carol with Thor. After all, fans have been doing that since the first Avengers: Endgame poster came out.

"I also have seen some other people shipping Thor and Captain Marvel which, when they see each other, that's kind of steamy. [But] I don't think I ship any two characters. I'm just for everybody."

Avengers: Endgame comes out on April 26.
