Avengers 4: Benedict Cumberbatch Teases Doctor Strange's Fate In The MCU

Fans are undoubtedly hoping that the fallen heroes of Avengers: Infinity War will eventually return in the sequel. However, Benedict Cumberbatch doesn't want viewers to get their hopes up in Avengers 4.

Cumberbatch was recently a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon where he told the host that he isn't a part of the new Marvel Cinematic Universe flick.

"I'm dust, baby," he said. "I'm just out there. I'm in the ether. I'm probably part of your food chain. I'm in your stomach somewhere."

Although Fallon tried to get Cumberbatch to at least confirm that Doctor Strange will return, the Sherlock actor simply offered a series on non-committal noises.

Cumberbatch might simply be hiding the truth about Avengers 4. After all, the Hobbit actor is still expected to reprise his role as the Sorcerer Supreme in Doctor Strange 2. Nevertheless, Cumberbatch is keeping quiet about A4 unlike most of the other MCU stars.

It was previously reported that Sebastian Stan had leaked a major Avengers 4 scene featuring most of the cast including Ant-Man and the Wasp actors Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer. Stan spoke about the huge sequence in April, a few weeks before the premiere on Avengers: Infinity War.

So what are the chances that Thanos' victims will return in Avengers 4? If Stan's spoilers were any indication, we can hope that the survivors will figure out a way to save their allies. This way, Cumberbatch can go on to work on Doctor Strange 2.

Avengers 4 will hit theaters on May 3, 2019.
