Aubrey Plaza and Bran Tyree Henry in Talks to Star in Child’s Play Reboot

Like every other cult film from the 80s, Child's Play is getting primed for a reboot, and news has it that the movie is looking for leads from comedy shows Atlanta and Parks and Recreation.

According to Collider, Brian Tyree Henry and Aubrey Plaza are in talks to star in the Child's Play reboot. The movie is said to be aiming for an IT and Stranger Things vibe, and Plaza is set to play the role of a mother, while Henry is going to play the part of a detective.

The story is said to focus on a group of kids who run into a technologically advanced doll, which Child's Play fans guess will probably end up going on a murder spree. The original film's origin is much more supernatural, as a serial killer casts a spell and puts his soul inside the body of a doll; the doll then proceeds to commit horrific murder after murder.

The franchise has actually spawned seven films already, with the last one being Cult of Chucky which came out last year. The movies have evolved into this twisted mix of murders and comedy, but it's unsure whether the same will be done for this upcoming film.

If anything, Henry and Plaza are amazing actors. After Parks and Rec, Plaza has gone on to play the villain of FX's Legion and she has been getting praise for her work on Indie film, Ingrid Goes West. Henry, on the other hand, is probably best known for his role of Paper Boi on Atlanta, but he's been getting cast in a lot of films lately, including Hotel Artemis and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

No release date has been announced for the Child's Play reboot.
