The King of Atlantis aims to put an exclamation point to what has been a pretty underwhelming film franchise, the DC Extended Universe. Now, a follow-up report on the hot rumor offers new information surrounding the failed test screenings of the James Wan-directed sequel.

According to X (formerly Twitter) scooper MyTimeToShineHello, who also previously reported about the alleged walkouts, fans left the free screenings of the final DCEU flick even before it was finished because the sequel is "boring as hell".

The tipster, who often provides reputable insider information didn't provide additional context so of course, it's still best to take this one with a huge grain of salt. But if there's any truth to the latest rumor, it's safe to say that the massive changes in the project's production may have been responsible for its potential decline in quality.

To be fair, the trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom which debuted last week was far from "boring" and if anything, judging by the stuff we saw from the action-packed teaser, it looks like the film will actually be fun despite having a similar premise to the original flick.

Hopefully, there's no truth to the rumors because it would be a shame if the final DCEU film ended in catastrophe. Then again, it's been a recurring theme in the franchise all these years.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hits cinemas on December 20.
