Ant-Man and The Wasp Producer On Changes Made to Ghost

The MCU films have always played loose with comic book continuity, often getting elements that would be acceptable in film and paying homage to more obscure references. The same holds true for Ghost, who will be a woman in Ant-Man and The Wasp, played by Hannah John-Kamen instead of a man. However, the film's producer has assured fans that this version of Ghost will still have an air of mystery to her.

Speaking with ComicBook.com, producer Stephen Broussard discussed how no one knows the real identity of Ghost in the comics. He continues to remain a mystery and that part of Ghost will still be a big part of the film.

"We thought that was a cool opportunity to create a character that was all about mystery and kind of, ‘What are the origins? and ‘What is the backstory? What is the goals and agendas of this person?' It was a great vehicle for the kind of the story you wanted to tell because Ghost in the comics itself was a mystery. So she's very different from what has come before in the comics but in ways that kind of...Suffice it to say that she is on a path and she is on a mission at odds with our heroes on this journey but of a similar goal, of a similar aim, at the worst possible time for Scott Lang."

Despite the gender change, Ghost's powers from the comic books will remain the same. She will still be able to go through walls for infiltration purposes and use said power on humans to incapacitate them.

"The power set is the same and the look is actually pretty classic. It's a reinterpretation but like a modernization. Our design team does a great job. When you think of Ghost you think of the hood. You think of the white suit and everything like that and Hanna wears it very well. She's awesome. She's really, really badass."

After all the tragedy that happened in Avengers: Infinity War, there are a lot of fans hoping that Ant-Man and The Wasp will bring plenty of laughs. It's a much smaller film, pun intended, but with the Microverse opening up plenty of possibilities, the movie could be more important than we're giving it credit for.

Ant-Man and The Wasp will come out on July 6.
