Evangeline Lilly Talks About Ant-Man And The Wasp’s Similarities And Differences

Paul Rudd's Ant-Man and Evangeline Lilly's Wasp look like they are going to make pretty great partners in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In a new interview with ComicBook.com, Lilly decides to open up about the similarities and differences between her character, Hope Van Dyne, and Paul Rudd's Scot Lang. According to Lilly, Land and Van Dyne are "two birds of a very, very different feather."

"The question would be easier answered in how are they similar. They can both shrink," Lilly said laughing. "I mean, of course, Scott is just incredibly, loveably easy-going and relaxed about things. Even when it seems like things are as dire as they can be, you have this sense that he's kind of okay inside."

On the other hand, both Lilly's character Hope, who is an accomplished scientist, and her father, the former Ant-Man Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) are "generally not okay inside."

Despite the anxiety lurking underneath her character, Lilly says that Hope feels a lot of satisfaction being able to become the Wasp saying that it's something that she's been waiting for her whole life and that the privilege of becoming the Wasp is "essentially an affirmation from her father."

It definitely means a lot to Hope becoming the new Wasp in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The original wasp, Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) was her mother who disappeared into the quantum realm while trying to disable a missile along with Hank.

Ant-Man and the Wasp makes its big debut on July 6, 2018.
