Angelina Jolie and David Oyelowo Join Cast for Peter Pan/Alice in Wonderland Prequel

It looks like superheroes aren't the only characters crossing over in movies now. News has it that there's a movie in the works that is bringing together Peter Pan and Alice and Wonderland, and the film has landed some major stars in the cast.

As per Deadline, Angelina Jolie and David Oyelowo have joined Come Away, a prequel for Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland. This is the plot description:

"Before Alice went to Wonderland, and before Peter became Pan, they were brother and sister. When their eldest brother dies in a tragic accident, they each seek to save their parents (Jolie & Oyelowo) from their downward spirals of despair until finally they are forced to choose between home and imagination. This sets the stage for their iconic journeys into Wonderland and Neverland."

With Pan (2015) and Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016) having disappointing box office receptions, I don't know how a prequel combining the two stories could generate some interest in the box office. Even an adaptation of classic book A Wrinkle in Time didn't get anyone particularly excited.

Who knows, maybe Come Away could actually be interesting, but I'm not too keen on getting "wowed" by this movie. Let me guess, the prequel plays out with Peter going to Neverland and Alice going to Wonderland, and this will lead to two separate spinoffs following the familiar stories the film is based on.

No release date has been set for Come Away.
