Angela Bassett Bags Another Historic Win for Black Panther 2

After her historic win at the Golden Globe Awards last week, Angela Bassett bagged another award as she won the Best Supporting Actress category at last night's 28th Critics' Choice Awards for her performance as Queen Ramonda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

This is yet again another historic win for Marvel since, just like in her Golden Globe win, Bassett is also the first performer to receive an acting award for a performance in a Marvel movie. This is also part of her continuing momentum this awards season as voting for the Oscars nominations is currently ongoing as well.

Bassett was able to defeat her fellow nominees such as Jessie Buckley (Women Talking), Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), Janelle Monae (Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery), and both Jamie Lee Curtis and Stephanie Hsu for Everything Everywhere All at Once.

This is certainly exciting for the actress' Oscar chances since this adds up to her already strong likelihood that she will be taking the most prestigious award in entertainment. As we also already pointed out, this is very historic for the MCU since we haven't seen a performer win major acting awards for their role in the franchise until last week.

Besides Bassett's win, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was also able to win in the Best Costume Design category for Ruth E. Carter's work. It defeated other nominated films such as Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Elvis, The Woman King, and Babylon.

The Michelle Yeoh-led breakout hit Everything Everywhere All at Once won the most awards during the night with five wins including Best Picture, Best Director for The Daniels, and Best Supporting Actor for Ke Huy Quan. Brendan Fraser made a triumphant presence as he won Best Actor for The Whale.

It would be interesting to see if Bassett will also end up getting nominated and winning the Oscar, which is now inevitable since these wins made her a frontrunner. The Oscar nominations are set to announce this January 24.
