The rankings of the 2024 light novel guidebook were revealed recently. There, The Angel Next Door topped the list in multiple categories.
The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten Is the Big Winner of the Kono Light Novel Sugoi!
Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! is an annual guidebook in Japan that lists the most recommended light novel series for readers to pick up.
Its 2023 issue featured Classroom of the Elite and Ascendance of a Bookworm, which topped the lists for the Bunkobon and Tankobon formats, respectively.
Now, the 2024 results have been announced, and The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten is the big winner as it topped five categories. This makes it the first light novel series to do so in Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi!
The series topped the list for the Bunkobon category, as well as the ranking for Best Illustrator, Female Character, Male Character, and Web Survey.
It might not exactly be an award, but it is essentially like a light novel annual award given that there are rankings for numerous categories.
Given the series’ dominance in the latest light novel guidebook, chances are that its popularity will be further boosted in 2024. It also helps that the anime’s new season is coming soon.

The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten to Continue With New Anime Season
The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten light novel series began publication in June 2019. Thanks to its popularity, the series received an anime from Project No.9, the studio behind My Tiny Senpai and Higehiro.
Season 1 of the anime consisted of 12 episodes and aired during the Winter 23 season. Despite the numerous anime delays that season, this show was one of the lucky few that were unaffected.
In October, the anime was renewed for a second season. This upcoming season got a teaser visual and a video reveal, though there is no proper trailer for it yet.
There’s currently no word on a release date for the second season. Given that there’s no trailer yet, chances are that we’ll have to wait until the second half of 2024 for it to premiere.
