And Just Like That Season 2 to Return to ‘Good Old Sex and the City Days’

Executive producer Michael Patrick King hints at the return of the good old Sex and the City days in the upcoming And Just Like That Season 2.

And Just Like That Season 2 will explore the aftermath of the first season's events, with Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) reeling on the sudden death of her husband, Mr. Big (Chris Noth). But instead of drowning in her emotions, she will get back to her feet, especially with the return of an ex-lover, Aidan (John Corbett).

And Just Like That Season 2, an Ode to Sex and the City

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, King revealed that the show's second season would address the reactions in the first season.

"Oh, it's dark. Oh really? That's necessary because the opposite of dark is light, so this is light. And if that was winter, this is spring," he said.

And Just That Season 2 would be an ode to Sex and the City—a major throwback to the classic series' good old days.

"There's sex, and there's city… There are so many restaurants, and there's so much New York. It's really more city than I've ever seen in the show," he continued.

"When Sex and the City was good, we showed four individuals all experiencing different versions of the same question, which is: How do you fulfill yourself?" King added. "That's what we're doing now with even more characters."

The Addition of Even More Characters

One of the added characters in the franchise's roster is Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez), a stand-up comic who took Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) to Los Angeles to film a sitcom.

"The idea of Miranda in L.A. while Che does a pilot to me is like a lemon meringue pie. It's so tart and sweet and wrong, in a comedy way," King explained.

The producer found it interesting to remove a part of the group and "put them on their own island" with other characters.

"They're both trying to grow or be happy — and it's substantial, it's enough," he stated.

But fans don't have to worry; King revealed Che and Miranda would be back in New York "at some point" in And Just Like That Season 2.

"TV pilots are an iffy business," he confessed.

Aidan's Return

Fans will also see the return of Aidan in Carrie's life in And Just Like That Season 2, with King calling it a "big entrée in our feast."

Fans last saw Aidan married in the second Sex and the City movie. But King assured fans Carrie wouldn't turn out a homewrecker, as Aidan and Carrie are both single in the show's second season.

"You know how she's single. You don't know how Aidan's single," he teased.

And Just Like That Season 2 is set to be out in June.
