An Original Piece of The Death Star is Now Being Auctioned Off on eBay

The Death Star run in Star Wars: A New Hope is one of the best special effects accomplishments in the film. Sectional pieces of the Death Star were made to be shot from above, providing fantastic images of the space station's bumpy exterior as Luke Skywalker and other heroes came close.

Now, one of the Death Star pieces is for sale on eBay. It's 23.75" lengthwise, and it's up to 6.8" tall at its highest point. According to its eBay page, the wonderful sculpture was thrown out after production and thrown into a landfill. An ex-Industrial Lights and Magic employee was able to retrieve this piece and kept it as a memento until professional collector Steve Grad acquired it in 2014.

The bidding for it started last Thursday and will run again for another week. At the time of this writing, the bid is $10,600, which collectors would consider reasonable for a piece like this.
