However, Heard's camp has since denied the rumors and claim that the actress is still scheduled to appear in Aquaman 2. The Hollywood Reporter's Ryan Parker even tweeted out that a reliable source told him that Amber isn't going anywhere and will in fact reprise her role as Mera in the upcoming project.

Still, that didn't stop rumors from spreading and according to the latest scoop from the folks over at Small Screen, the actress' role in the film is still in jeopardy despite the initial denial of her camp. An unidentified source allegedly close to Warner Bros. told the website: "Heard is still playing Mera in Aquaman 2. They are cutting a lot of here scenes in the movie. She's in a dangerous position and could still be removed from the film."

Of course, everything remains unconfirmed at this point so take this one with a huge grain of salt. But considering the growing backlash towards the actress, it'll be interesting to see how much longer Warner Bros. can try to dodge criticism over their decision to keep Amber onboard. She's in a really tough spot right now and only time will tell whether she'll manage to keep her role in the DCEU or not. For now, don't expect the #FireAmberHeard movement to go away anytime soon.

Aquaman 2 will begin filming this Summer.
