Ahsoka Star Sheds Light How Star Wars Fans Tirelessly Reprimanded Her Character Design

Disney has just recently released the official teaser trailer for Ahsoka, their next upcoming live-action Star Wars series featuring Rosario Dawson after making her debut in The Mandalorian.

While Star Wars fans couldn’t believe the accurate live-action debut form of Ahsoka Tano, one thing bugged them about the initial debuted character design: the character’s “montrals” (what the franchise universe calls the long blue-and-white horns aka sensory organs on her head) were shorter than its original design in Star Wars Rebels.

“We kept adjusting [the montrals] episode to episode and from [The Mandalorian] to Boba Fett,” Dawson shared in a recent interview with Comicbook.com, “And honestly, literally, the technology didn’t exist, and it was always top of mind for us, and I call them ‘the Mengineers,’ like they were really intense about it and like wanting to get it right.”

Dawon continued on, “And so I’m literally wearing a 3D-printed skull cap… I could hear it like bones in my ears as I put it on because it’s like the skin that’s on and you could hear [their movement].”

It’s satisfying to see Lucasfilm and the actors taking Star Wars fans’ take on the character designs seriously, considering it would be lore-accurate and much closer to how RebelsAhsoka looked in animated form. Not to mention, Pedro Pascal even previously admitted how The Mandalorian armor caused hilarious drawbacks during filming.

Now, despite the seemingly uncomfortable redesigned montrals on Dawson’s head, the Ahsoka star couldn’t resist highly anticipating to return and reprise her character once the show does get a Season 2 renewal.

Previously, even Sabine Wren actor, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, while sharing the struggles she had to deal with to train for her live-action debut on the show, is also looking forward to return for Ahsoka Season 2: “If we get Season 2, I’m training from now [on], the minute it’s announced that I’ll be, like, back in that, I love it.”

Lucasfilm’s Ahsoka has yet to receive an official release date but is expected to premiere on Disney+ in August this year!
