Last May, veteran actor Ray Stevenson tragically passed away at the age of 58. While no cause of death was given, it was reported that he was hospitalized for days before his passing in Italy where he was supposedly filming for a project.

Several weeks before his death, the actor was also seen promoting Ahsoka at the Star Wars Celebration event alongside his co-stars where he shared his excitement about joining the series and praised the cast and crew.

Unfortunately, the actor didn't live to see the day of the series premiere and find out the fans' enthusiastic response to his character Baylan Skoll, who has become one of the fan favorites thanks to this fantastic performance.

The first episode of the series also paid tribute to him by dedicating a title card for him, "For our friend, Ray," at the end.

Stevenson made his one last appearance in the Star Wars franchise during the season finale of Ahsoka for a brief dialogue-less scene.

Near the end of the episode, Baylan is seen at the giant statues of the Mortis Gods in Peridea and looks at the land surrounding him without saying one dialogue.

While it was a very brief moment, it felt like a fitting conclusion to Stevenson's run in the series as it looked like he had found peace and his next path in life after serving Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Sadly, that was the last time that we saw the late actor in the franchise after years of involvement that started with his voice role as Gar Saxon in Rebels and The Clone Wars before jumping to live-action for a different role.

However, this won't be his last on-screen appearance ever as he starred in the upcoming film Gateway to the West which has not set a release date yet, but his appearance in Ahsoka was his last TV role.

Ivanna Sakhno, who plays Shin Hati, paid tribute to Stevenson on her Instagram account hours before the season finale's airing where she wrote in the caption of her post, "For my friend Ray. Forever your Wolf. x"

It remains to be seen whether Baylan will end up getting recast with a different actor when the show potentially returns for a second season, but given how things left off with him, they can just leave it as it is and it's up to our imaginations on what's next for the character's journey in the planet.

Whatever happens to Baylan in the future, he already had a remarkable contribution to the overall Star Wars lore thanks to Stevenson's terrific performance.

The entire first season of Ahsoka is available to stream on Disney+.
