Adam McKay Wants To Direct Silver Surfer Movie, Not GOTG Vol 3

Adam McKay is certainly picky when it comes to the films he chooses to direct. Although the Anchorman director was offered to helm Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, McKay has admitted that he is interested in exploring the story of a completely different comic book hero.

McKay recently spoke to Josh Horowitz in the Happy Sad Confused podcast where he revealed that he is eager to work on the planned Silver Surfer movie.

"Silver Surfer, man, that's the one I want to do. I would do anything to do SilverSurfer because visually that would be just be...You could do what the Wachowskis did with Speed Racer, with the Silver Surfer. At the same time, there's a great emotional story in there man. Where a guy has to make the choice to save his planet...you know Norrin Radd has to save his planet...that, that would be the one."

Interestingly, McKay had also revealed that he was asked to direct the Inhumans movie. However, the project was never pursued.

"We've talked a little bit, yeah We were kicking around the idea of the Inhumans at one point. We're always kind of talking. I think [Kevin] Feige is just the greatest and what they're doing is amazing."

There have been previous reports that a Silver Surfer spin-off movie is being planned. It is still unclear if Doug Jones and Laurence Fishburne will return to reprise their role as Norrin Radd. For now, screenwriter Brian K. Vaughan is the only name attached to the project.

McKay's most recent project Holmes & Watson reunites the director with Step Brothers stars Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. The film will premiere on December 25.
