Yoo Ah In faced the public after his recent summons for his drug use crime.

Yoo Ah In, who notably starred in other hit Kdramas and movies, including #Alive, Hellbound, and Seoul Vibe, was one of the 51 people on the list submitted to the Seoul Metropolitan Agency in 2022 who reportedly used illegal drugs in the past years.

He had since undergone drug tests and tested positive for four different illegal drugs.

As part of the investigation, he received summon requests and voluntarily cooperated with the police since the controversy broke out.

Yoo Ah In Apologizes Amid Drug Use Controversy

On March 27, the Sungkyunkwan Scandal star attended a private summons at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Drug Crime Investigation Unit. His appearance marked the 50th day since the probe into his alleged drug use started.

Yoo Ah In received charges for breaking the Narcotics Control Act after his hair and urine samples showed propofol, marijuana, cocaine, and ketamine in his system.

According to Dispatch (via Naver), Yoo Ah In arrived at the station wearing a black suit.

After the 12-hour investigation, he apologized publicly and told the reporters and public present in the area that he is deeply reflecting on what he did.

"I am cautious about giving details because the investigation has not yet been completed. Personally, I think I was so absorbed with self-justification that I have not caused harm to anyone else with my deviant behavior. I apologize for belatedly sharing my position," Yoo Ah In said.

The actor continued his apology statement, expressing concerns that it might be uncomfortable for people to see him like that. He pledged to use the incident as an opportunity to begin living healthily.

What's Next in Yoo Ah In Drug Use Case

Yoo Ah In's private summons will now lead the police to conclude the probe and launch drug-related charges.

Local reports confirmed that the charges for his drug use would be easy to prove. However, the authorities will still need to provide evidence to support the claims regarding his alleged drug-related crimes.

"The key is to secure objective evidence to support the results of the NFS analysis," a legal expert said.
