Both the TV series and the webtoon follows a group of unlikely heroes as they awaken from a coma to become a powerful demon hunter going through the streets of the fictional Jungjin.

In the second season of the show, the group welcomed a fifth member as the need to catch more evil spirits arises.

Together, they need to stop the evil spirits from leveling up every time they commit a murder. Once they catch these evil spirits, they must summon them so they can be sent back to the afterlife, where they belong.

So Mun (played by Jo Byeong-kyu) is an 18-year-old high school student with a disability. He lost his parents in a car accident when he was young, which forced him to live with his grandparents. The car accident also caused him to be reliant on his crutches.

After a Counter got killed by an evil spirit, the spirit leader from Yung, Wi-gen, went inside his body. This made him a unique Counter since he was the only one who was awake when the Yung spirit entered his body.

When he became a Counter, he proved to be the most powerful out of the group. He gained superhuman speed, psychometry, and can sense evil spirits that enter the Territory.

More importantly, So Mun earned psychokinesis and the ability to summon the Territory at will.

The only thing he knew about his past life was that he was in a near-fatal fall that led to him falling into a coma. Gi-ran possessed him and allowed him, which allowed him to become a Counter with superhuman strength and psychometry powers.

Towards the end of the first season, Mo-tak was able to earn back his memory. He also realized that his accident was connected to the car crash that killed So Mun's parents.
