Lucasfilm has been teasing a whole new set of books and comics under the name Project Luminous. Finally, fans have gotten a glimpse of what the mystery project is about, which is now called Star Wars: The High Republic. There are a bunch of epic adventures and cool new characters to be featured in these stories, including a Wookiee Jedi.

Charles Soule's novel under this project is titled Light of the Jedi. While there haven't been many details revealed about the said character, the Wookiee Jedi is amongst the characters featured on the cover. The creature is seen holding a blue lightsaber, standing tall amongst three other Jedi Masters.

Although there have already been a few Wookiee Jedis in the Star Wars Dark Horse comics, they have been decanonized as part of the Legends lore. The character in the upcoming project is considered to be the first Wookiee Jedi in the Star Wars canon. There's also The Clone Wars animated series character, Gungi, who was a youngling in training. However, he and the others met an unfortunate fate.

The High Republic is set 200 years before The Phantom Menace. Little is known about the era, but there is said to be a huge threat that the galaxy and the Jedi Knights will face. Needless to say, Star Wars fans are looking forward to the Wookiee Jedi's skills and his stories.

Star Wars: The High Republic is due out August 25th.
