Zack Snyder's Justice League 2 Would Have Been DCEU's Version of Marvel's Avengers: Endgame

If things went well for Zack Snyder back then, the potential Justice League sequel would involve a massive superhero crossover event among various DC characters which has strong parallels with Marvel's Avengers: Endgame.

Despite the DCEU moving forward with various solo movies for its key characters, Snyder is getting his chance to complete his vision of having the biggest superhero team re-introduced in live-action once again in the upcoming HBO Max streaming release of his director's cut for the Justice League.

After Snyder left during the film's original production, Avengers' director Joss Whedon was hired to rewrite and reshoot certain significant portions of Justice League. The result of the distinct artistic view and the rushed production was a critical and box office dud in 2017 which left many fans disappointed.

There has been a massive fan campaign on social media which was dubbed as #ReleasetheSnyderCut. This led HBO Max to give the green light to Snyder, give him the budget, and finish his version of the film. The budget was enough for him to complete everything with reshoots and enough budget for good effects.

However, the upcoming four-hour film is just a part of Snyder's original plans for the Justice League. There was a plan for two films with the first one ending with a massive cliffhanger just like the Avengers: Infinity War.

To the surprise of many, Snyder revealed that his upcoming director's cut will still have the massive cliffhanger that he has originally planned. This means that Snyder really pushed through for his vision in the upcoming Justice League film.

Although some fans may accuse the DCEU of ripping off from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Snyder's plan for Justice League was already in place long before the release of Avengers: Infinity War.Screenrant stated that Justice League 2 would have been released in the same summer as Avengers: Endgame.

It has been speculated that the first Justice League would have pitted the superheroes against Steppenwolf, the lieutenant of Darkseid. He will be a major threat on the sidelines until the final film which will culminate with Darkseid and his Parademons launching an all-out war.

If it came to fruition and if it was true that Justice League 2 would have been set during the same release date as Avengers: Endgame, fans would have been presented with both Darkseid and Thanos at the same time.

Whether Snyder could work on Justice League 2 or not is not yet confirmed or debunked. The current track of Warner Bros and DC Films seems quite different from Snyder's vision. However, some people thought that #ReleasetheSnyderCut will never happen but it did which is historical in its own sense. Therefore, Justice League 2 seems to be out of reach for now but if Snyder's Justice League brings in a huge boost of subscribers for HBO Max, Warner Media, the parent company of Warner Bros, DC Films, and HBO Max may decide to have Snyder finish his vision.

That said, Zack Snyder's Justice League will be released on March 18, on HBO Max.
