Zack Snyder’s DCEU could Continue with the Comics

Zack Snyder had started the DCEU continuity with Man of Steel, but after Justice League, it looks like Warner Bros. wants to scrap that and just focus on standalone superhero films. What's interesting is, the DCEU continue could go on in the form of comics.

Talking during CCXP (via ComicBook), comic writer Scott Snyder (no relation to Zack) has confirmed that DC Comics had asked him to "help with the comic adaptation and expansion of the [Justice League Snyder Cut] mythology that [Zack Snyder] is doing on [HBO Max]." Snyder apparently turned the job down, but that doesn't mean that DC hasn't tapped someone else to take on the project.

If anything, the word is going around that Zack Snyder's DCEU continuity ends with Zack Snyder's Justice League, and The Flash movie will then reset the timeline a la Days of Future Past. No official word has come out about it, but those are the rumors going around right now. While I would love to see more of Snyder's continuity, I guess an ongoing comic would be a good compromise if WB is thinking of scrapping the whole thing.

In the meantime, the DCEU is gearing up for a comeback with Wonder Woman 1984 which is set to come out on Christmas. A lot of people are still questioning the new theater/HBO Max release model, but I'm willing to wait and see what happens.

As for Zack Snyder's Justice League, it's set to hit HBO Max sometime in 2021.
