Zachary Levi: Shazam! 2 Could Start Shooting Early Next Year

The DCEU has slowly been getting back on its feet, and April saw the successful release of Shazam! starring Zachary Levi. A sequel is already in the works at WB, and it looks like the movie is already set to start shooting sometime next year.

Talking to the Associated Press, Levi explained that the sequel to Shazam! could start shooting either late spring or early summer of next year. Of course, nothing has been set in stone, but we do know that a script is already being worked on; we have no idea how close it is to being done.

While some think that the sequel will be when we finally meet the Rock's Black Adam, I think DC will want to save him for the third movie. There are plans to make a Black Adam film first, so I guess his clash with "Captain Sparklefingers" will have to wait a bit longer. If anything, this sequel could have Mister Mind (the caterpillar) as the main antagonist and the end could give us a teaser to the arrival of Adam.

I'm actually pleased with how Shazam! turned out in theaters, and I wasn't expecting an introduction to the Shazam Family in the very first movie. Going into the sequel, I guess the movie could focus more on the team coming together, and maybe we can get a glimpse of how the kids turned the Rock of Eternity into their own headquarters.

No release date has been set for the Shazam! sequel.
