Zachary Levi Reveals When Shazam: Fury of the Gods Will Begin Filming

We finally know the official title of the sequel to Shazam!, thanks to the awesome poster that was unveiled at the film's DC FanDome panel. But when exactly will Shazam: Fury of the Gods start production? Zachary Levi has offered an update on when the highly anticipated DC Extended Universe flick will begin filming.

Levi was recently a guest on Dan Fogler's 4D Xperience where he confirmed that the screenplay for Shazam 2 isn't what's holding the sequel back.

"They announced that we were gonna do a sequel pretty much right after we premiered. They knew we were tracking well enough, they were happy enough with the numbers," Levi said. "So they have been steadily and earnestly working on the script for the sequel and I think Q1 of next year is the idea."

But why wait for so long to start production? Levi pointed out that the current COVID-19 situation isn't helping. "COVID has kind of made everything a little bit up in the air, but very much the intent is to make another one," he stated. He then pointed out that it's important to work on the sequel as soon as possible since his co-stars need to keep looking like children.

"We gotta get to it fast, the kids are growing fast," Levi said.

Although Levi didn't give an actual date, there are speculations that Shazam 2 will start filming as early as February next year. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

Shazam: Fury of the Gods is scheduled for release on November 4, 2022.
