CBS has dropped the first Young Sheldon Season 6 trailer, which seems to hint at the nearing end of the series and a heart-breaking storyline that the show has been avoiding featuring.
Young Sheldon Season 6 will premiere in about a week. However, with the changes with its main star, Iain Armitage, it looks like this season will make the beginning of an end.
The Hint That Young Sheldon Season 6 Begins the Series’ Ending
It can’t be denied that the spinoff series has gained incredible popularity, telling the story of the socially-inept genius Sheldon two decades before The Big Bang Theory takes place.
CBS has slowed its storyline as much as possible, but the trailer sees Sheldon now has a deeper voice, revealing he has officially entered puberty.
Armitage is now 14 years old, and ScreenRant noted that he could no longer play the role of the 12-year-old Sheldon.

So, the network has to speed up the series’ storytelling, and Young Sheldon Season 6 has to feature a year of events.
Based on The Big Bang Theory-established continuity, Sheldon started his international study program at 15.
So, the series may only have three seasons left on the air. Though CBS can feature Sheldon’s personal endeavors as he leaves Texas, it will deviate from the series’ family dynamic aspect, which also happens to be its best asset.

The Heart-Breaking Storyline that has to be Seen
If Young Sheldon’s ending is near, it just means it has to tell the heart-breaking storyline of George’s (Lance Barber) demise.
The Cooper patriarch died when Sheldon was 14 years old if his recollection in The Big Bang Theory was anything to go by.
However, with its sensitive nature, CBS has been trying to avoid featuring this narrative for as long as possible, knowing it would change the show’s trajectory. It’s also good to note that George is one of the most fan-favorite characters.
So, his passing may mean a downfall for the series. But with the growth of Armitage himself, it looks like the show has no choice but to soon deal with this tragedy.
Young Sheldon Season 6 premieres on Thursday, September 29, on CBS.
