Netflix's The Brothers Sun brings new names to the Hollywood spotlight, and one of the most magnetic of these is Yoshi Sudarso, who plays flamboyant gangster Lance wang. Here's what we know about his character in the show and where we've seen the actor before.
Who is Yoshi Sudarso from The Brothers sun?
Yoshi Sudarso is an American actor of Indonesian descent and Chinese and Japanese lineage. He was born on April 12, 1989, in Surabaya, Indonesia, but at the age of nine, Sudarso's family moved to Cerritos, California.
When he came of age, Sudarso took up a major in math and accounting at Cal State Long Beach, but then decided to switch to theater.
He has one brother, Adrian Sudarso, who is a model and actor. Fun fact: both Sudarso brothers played the Blue Ranger in separate Power Ranger movies.
Who Does He Play in The Brothers Sun?
Sudarso appears on the seventh episode of The Brothers Sun, entitled Gymkata, as Lance Wang. Lance is one of the Wang Brothers, the boys Charles Sun (played by Justin Chien) grew up with in Taiwan.
The Wang Bros. are made up of three guys: Lance (played by Sudarso), Justin (played by Andy Le), and JC (played by Brian Le). Although the three share the same last name, Charles says they are not really related, but Xiong Di, a Mandarin and Cantonese term that can mean "brothers", "siblings" or "close friends".
When Charles asks them what they are doing in the US, Lance answers that they were ordered to come by their boss, Big Sun (played by Johnny Kou). Sudarso appears in other parts of the episode as one of Big Sun's men.
Where Have You Seen Yoshi Sudarso Before?
Although Sudarso's career is still getting off the ground, he already has a few titles under his belt, plus a solid following on social media.
Sudarso's first appearance was in 2010 teen comedy Easy A, starring Emma Stone, where he played an uncredited role called Eric Ling. After that, he went on to have guest roles in a few shows.
In 2015 Sudarso landed a bigger role playing Koda in Power Rangers Dino Charge, which led him to star in a few other Power Rangers shows.
Along with The Brothers Sun, Yoshi Sudarso's other credits include NCIS: Los Angeles, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Avatar: The Last Airbender: Agni Kai, Bullet Train, and many more.
