Season 4 saw the introduction of a new character to the Dutton Ranch: Carter, a young teenage boy played by Finn Little. Taylor Sheridan specifically wrote the role for Little after being impressed with his performance in Sheridan's film Those Who Wish Me Dead. Now, new Yellowstone 5 casting rumors suggest that the young boy may have a love interest.
A Slew of Changes in Yellowstone Season 5
The Duttons' lives will change dramatically in Yellowstone Season 5. Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) are married, and John Dutton (Kevin Costner) is now the governor of Montana. According to a casting announcement obtained by Entertainment Weekly, Carter will also have a new love interest.
Orli Gottesman, a teenage actress, has been cast in the role of Halie. She's described as "a confident, fun, and outgoing girl who gravitates toward Carter."
"In Season 5, Halie becomes that person who gives Carter the chance to come out of his shell and to teach him not only about himself, but he finds himself always wanting Halie to be around. Halie comes along and now there is someone who can fit that mold and be there for him," the character description reads.
What to Expect from Finn Little's Role in Yellowstone
Little was only 14 years old when he signed on to the show in the fall of 2020 to film Season 4. However, that almost two-year gap between seasons created a little bit of a hurdle to the series when the ensemble reunited to shoot Yellowstone Season 5 in the spring of 2022.
During the break, Little experienced an astonishing growth spurt. And now, at the age of 16, the young actor is essentially unrecognizably different from how Yellowstone viewers last saw him.
Little wrote in the caption of a selfie he posted on Instagram revealing his new appearance, "… when you say, "hi, nice to see you!" to the film crew and they don't know who you are! ?." In the comments, he added: "That's what cake and steak does to a kid."

Carter's first interaction in Yellowstone was with Beth, who ended up taking him in. Carter appeared to be slowly becoming a member of Beth and Rip's family after a tumultuous season. Carter's bond with his new "parents," according to Hauser, will progress in Yellowstone Season 5.
Yellowstone Season 5 premieres Nov. 13 on the Paramount Network.
