As rumors swirl about Kevin Costner's potential departure from the hit series, fans have been eagerly awaiting news about the show's return for the second half of Yellowstone Season 5. Unfortunately, those hopes were recently dashed by Cole Hauser, who plays the rugged and loyal Rip Wheeler on the show.
Despite the fervent wishes of Yellowstone devotees, it seems that the summer of 2023 will not bring the long-awaited continuation of this beloved saga.
Second Half of Yellowstone Season 5 Production Delayed
Although Yellowstone Season 5 is currently in production, rumors have been swirling that the show could be nearing its end, with reports earlier this year claiming that Kevin Costner's desire to scale back his role could be a factor. However, no official word on the show's future has been released, and it may not be until the completion of the remaining episodes before any concrete information is given.
Adding to the uncertainty, Hauser recently took part in a Q&A session with fans at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
During the event, Hauser reportedly shared that production on the second half of Season 5 has not yet begun and may not start until May.
"You know, we'll see what's next, but right now I'm focused on giving you guys 5B, you've been waiting for it a little while!" Hauser stated. "But we're trying to go back to work in May, so hopefully that'll happen."
With this news, hopes for the show's return in the expected summer 2023 premiere window have been cast into doubt.

Kevin Costner's Future in Yellowstone
Amidst the swirling drama surrounding Kevin Costner's future with Yellowstone, whispers began to circulate that Matthew McConaughey might be poised to take on a leading role in the franchise.
However, a spokesperson for Paramount recently put the kibosh on those rumors, dropping a hint that Costner's tenure with the show isn't coming to an end anytime soon. Unfortunately, Hauser remained mum on the topic.
The first half of Yellowstone Season 5 concluded in January, and creator Taylor Sheridan is currently busy with several spinoff projects. Prior to the delays, the second half of the season was originally slated to make its return to Paramount during the summer of 2023.
