X-Men/X-2 Writer Would Love to Reboot Marvel's Mutants for the MCU

Now that Disney has bought Fox, we're all waiting for the MCU version of the X-Men, which is going to be rough since people are so familiar with the films from Fox. Granted, there are some fans who ignored those movies so that the MCU can do it "right" but many people loved those films so we'll have to wait and see how they handle these characters. Interestingly enough, David Hayter, the writer of X-Men and X-2: X-Men United, said he would love to help reboot these characters.

Speaking with Den of Geek, Hayter revealed that, if given the opportunity, he wouldn't mind helping Marvel Studios with their version of an X-Men movie. However, Hayter isn't chomping at the bit when it comes to getting this role since he feels that Marvel Studios will want help from a younger person, which is understandable. Hayter is doing just fine but if he gets to help a bit with a new X-Men movie, that would be cool.

"I don't expect that's going to happen. I would imagine if I were Kevin Feige, I'd say, ‘We need all new voices, and we need the current crop of Marvel creators to come in and do it. They probably actively want to separate from the Bryan Singer versions for a number of reasons. But if they asked me, I've made it clear to Kevin, I'll work on any Marvel property. I'd do it for the rest of my life."

Fans will always have a place in their heart for the X-Men since there was so much media with these characters from back in the day. Whether it's the ‘90s X-Men cartoon, the movies mentioned above, or the various video games featuring these characters, you can see why we have so much affinity for the X-Men. Let's hope the MCU does them right.
