X-Men’s Bryan Singer Is Currently In Talks To Direct Red Sonja Movie

It looks like X-Men franchise director Bryan Singer is currently in the middle of talks to direct Millennium's comic book movie adaptation of Red Sonja.

Despite having been recently fired from 20^th Century Fox's upcoming autobiographical movie Bohemian Rhapsody because of constantly failing to show up on set, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Millennium is staking its chances on Singer, discussing with him the possibility of the director helming a movie for Red Sonja.

X-Men: First Class writer Ashely Miller is currently working on the script for the comic book movie project while The Expendables Avi Lerner, Conan The Barbarian's Joe Gatta, 300's Mark Canton, and Dungeons and Dragon's Courtney Solomon are all set to produce the film.

If the negotiations between Singer and Millennium are finalized, THR's sources say the director will be rewarded "top dollar" for directing Red Sonja, a move "which is seen as a step towards rehabilitating the director's image."

According to the report, Millennium is hoping that the film will find the same success as the DC Extended Universe's Wonder Woman standalone movie. The studio is also hoping that it will be able to launch a franchise with Red Sonja.

For those who aren't familiar with the character, Red Sonja is a sword-wielding ally of Conan the Barbarian. Co-created for Marvel Comics by Barry Windsor Smith and Roy Thomas during the studio's era of "sword and sorcery," Red Sonja was soon given her own self-titled book in the late 1870s and then a starring role in multiple Dynamite series.

Millennium's Red Sonja movie still doesn't have a release date, but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
