X-Men Gambit’s Writer Unveils Scrapped Plans for The Canceled Film

When Channing Tatum revealed to the public his disappointments in X-Men’s spin-off Gambit movie, the hype for it was back. The actor says, “I would even audition.”

Seems like Channing Tatum really wants to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as he expressed disappointments in his canceled gambit movie.

“Hopefully we get to have a shot if they ever make it, or if they ever put Gambit in one of the other movies, I would love to have a shot at it — I would even audition. Fingers crossed, I hope someone hears this and it gets across."

Though this might be a huge loss for the actor, new information has been revealed from the film.

Gambit’s writer, Reid Carolin was interviewed by The Playlist and discussed some supposed plans for the Gambit film.

The writer explained that the mutants ‘don't really care about saving the world’ and would rather ‘use their powers to hook up.’

“We made this world in New Orleans that was a city of mutants that didn’t care about saving the world. They went there so they could use their powers to party and hook up, and their hands could fry the grease at MacDonald’s and whatever else, and the hardest thing for them to do was to fall in love because they could read each other’s minds, or when they got into a fight, they could turn a table into a grenade and send their partner to the hospital or whatever."

Carolin notes that the city can be in comparison to the world of ‘The Mafia’ where its "almost kind of like a mutant Goodfellas in New Orleans:"

"So, it was all this kind of low-level mutant fights and disagreements and we set in this world of the Mafia—almost kind of like a mutant 'Goodfellas' in New Orleans.”

Carolin then explained that the film had multiple versions of the script until they found the one that they all believed is going to be awesome.

Carolin then praised former President of the 20th Century Fox, Emma Watts for the success of Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool. “I think it played really well in the ‘Deadpool’ universe at Fox, Emma Watts had really championed it at Fox. They made ‘Deadpool’ at Fox and they understood that when you went a little punk rock with these characters you could pop some wheelies and really attract an audience.” Carolin explained.

This plot for the Gambit movie seems interesting. Since the X-Men is rumored to be making its appearance in the future of MCU, maybe rebels like Gambit would make a really fun addition to the crew.

The only confirmation we have right now is X-Men’s 97 animated show that will feature mutants for the first time in the MCU. The show will be streaming on Disney+ soon.
