Many fans predicted that Extermination would be the event that brings the original five X-Men back to their timeline, which is something a lot of readers have wanted for a while. They were correct, as the final issue finally sees these characters back in their timeline while also beating Ahab, who ended up being the series' main villain. However, there was also a major return that a lot of fans didn't expect to see.

At the end of the fifth and final issue, we see Kid Cable pass a beer to Cyclops. Not the young version of the character but the main one we all know and love/hate. He's seen in his popular Astonishing X-Men suit, Though recent solicitations have suggested that we'll be seeing him in his classic ‘90s costume.

Due to the Marvel solicitations, most of us assumed that we would be seeing Cyclops come back in Uncanny X-Men Annual #1. We know that he will be leading a new team of X-Men with Wolverine while Jean Grey and her team are stuck in Age of X-Man, whatever that ends up being. How he comes back is still unknown but Kid Cable talking to Cyclops might just suggest time travel.
Ugh.
Cyclops' story continues in Uncanny X-Men this February, where he will meet up with the resurrected Wolverine. Kid Cable's adventures continue in X-Force #1.
