It looks like the next X-Men film is almost finished. The first trailer for Dark Phoenix has just debuted at a huge promotional presentation hosted by 20th Century Fox.
According to The Flick, the trailer was part of a major marketing presentation held in St. Petersburg, Russia. Although the report did not reveal details about the teaser, it was declared "epic and mysterious."
It's great to hear that the Dark Phoenix trailer has already been completed and is being tested on a chosen few. Unfortunately, those who have attended the event were all sworn to secrecy and are unable to divulge much information. Nevertheless, we can all rest assured that Simon Kinberg film will be much darker than its predecessors. Hopefully, the positive response to the trailer will push Fox to release the trailer publicly in the next month.
The Dark Phoenix synopsis reads as follows:
"Mystique, Beast, Storm, Nightcrawler and the rest of the X-Men spring into action when a malevolent, power-hungry force threatens to overtake Jean Grey's mind."
Sophie Turner will be back to play Jean Grey as the mutant finally succumbs to the Phoenix. This will be the Game of Thrones star's first leading role in a film.
The new X-Men film will bring back Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, and Evan Peters. Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, and Kodi Smit-McPhee will also reprise their roles from X-Men: Apocalypse.
It: Chapter 2 star Jessica Chastain has been confirmed in the villainous role of "a mysterious shapeshifter" who attempts to control Jean as she struggles with the Phoenix. There have been speculations that Chastain's "Smith" will be a gender-swapped version of Mastermind who famously manipulated Jean in the comic books. However, there have been no confirmations yet on the character's true identity.
Dark Phoenix is scheduled for release on February 14, 2019.
