The showrunner of X-Men '97 has confirmed that a certain moment in episode 8 is inspired by Man of Steel.

The recently aired episode has received a lot of praise from fans for its animation, good set-up for the last two episodes, and a game-changing moment involving Magneto that changes the trajectory of the story.

Since the episode aired, fans have noticed a lot of easter eggs (aside from the cameos) including what seems to be a reference to the first DCEU movie.

X-Men '97 Episode 8 Man of Steel Reference Confirmed by Beau DeMayo

X-Men '97 fans have spotted that the flashback sequence involving young Bastion in episode 8 is seemingly inspired by Man of Steel as they have a similar structure.

There have been questions since the airing of the episode whether that certain moment is indeed a reference to the DCEU film.

Showrunner Beau DeMayo liked a post from a fan that speculated on the Man of Steel-inspired Bastion flashback sequence in episode 8, confirming fans' suspicions.

Later on, DeMayo wrote in an X post that he is a fan of Man of Steel and its director Zack Snyder which explains why it was referenced in the series.

This is not the first time that fans spotted a Man of Steel-inspired moment in the series as they also noticed it in Storm's flight sequence after regaining her powers in episode 6.

DeMayo also confirmed that he took inspiration from the DCEU movie in that scene.

It is not unusual to see comic book films and TV shows take inspiration from other works in that genre, but it is still exciting for fans nonetheless since it shows their legacy and impact.

Perhaps fans will spot more references and easter eggs as they watch the episodes a few more times and take notice of other elements that they did not notice in the earlier viewings.

New episodes of X-Men '97 premiere every Wednesday on Disney+.
