X-Force: Stryfe Could be Villain, Says Rob Liefeld

The Deadpool franchise has been doing a great job of bringing comic characters to the big screen, but now everyone (including Reynolds) is gearing up for an X-Force movie. We don't have that much solid updates on the film yet, but Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld hints at the possible villain for the film.

Liefeld tells Nerdist that Cable clone Stryfe could be the antagonist for Drew Goddard's X-Force. He says:

"Well, do you really hire Josh Brolin if you don't want him to play both roles? We are perfectly assembled for an X-Force movie. And how do you not scratch that Stryfe itch, right?"

In the comics, Stryfe was the leader of the Mutant Liberation Front, and he was one of the first villains that the X-Force had faced. With the way the films make comic-accurate versions of characters (save for a few), I think a clone version of Stryfe isn't too far away down the line. Then again, I think X-Force is aiming for a more serious tone as compared to Deadpool.

With the Disney acquisition moving forward, some people are curious on whether Fox's X-Men universe will continue to thrive. The way it looks, it seems that there are no plans to stop anything that is currently undergoing production.

No release date has been set for X-Force.
