Wolverine’s Hugh Jackman Doesn’t Believe That Fans Want A Deadpool/Wolverine Crossover

20th Century Fox's Merc with a Mouth actor Ryan Reynolds might not have given up hope on dragging X-Men's Wolverine star Hugh Jackman to a Deadpool movie, but the Australian movie star honestly believes that a Wolverine/ Deadpool crossover wouldn't sit well with his fans.

People just recently released a clip of Jackman's interview in an upcoming episode of Sunday Today, and in the video, host Willie Geist asked the X-men star whether or not he'd ever return to the big screen as Fox's Wolverine.

Confirming that the clawed mutant will definitely return to the franchise, Jackman tells Geist that "Someone's going to buy him," though not necessarily the actor himself.

"No, but Ryan [Reynolds] is relentless," Jackman told the interviewer. "He keeps coming back to me in all these ways, shapes and forms. I just said, 'You know I just don't think the world really wants to see Deadpool and Wolverine.' Maybe a cameo from Deadpool? I just think it runs over it for Deadpool."

While Jackman believes that his fans don't necessarily want to see a crossover between the X-Men characters, others would probably disagree. Who wouldn't want to see Wade Wilson annoying the hell out of the overly-serious James Howlett? We can just imagine the banter between the two – the Merc with a Mouth's will says something to push Wolverine over the edge, and Logan's going to slice Deadpool up into little bits, only to see the hero regenerate. It'd be the perfect Punch and Judy partnership.

Unfortunately, Jackman doesn't seem to be too eager to return as Wolverine – though a new actor could try on the claws if he'd like.

Once Upon A Deadpool, Fox's PG-13 version of Deadpool 2, premieres December 12.
