2022 was a monumental year for Hugh Jackman's career as his journey has come full circle with his shocking return to his Wolverine role. Originally retiring the mantle in 2017's R-rated hit Logan, Jackman took a five-year break from the superhero genre and while one would assume that marked the end of his rigorous workout routine, the Australian actor has managed to keep his body in tremendous shape at 54 years old.
However, some folks are convinced that Hugh is taking steroids to help him get in the shape that he is. Now, the actor is breaking his silence. Appearing on HBO's Who's Talking to Chris Wallace (via Variety), Jackman finally ended the decades-long speculation about his alleged use of performance enhancers.
According to the actor, he never resorted to taking shortcuts to achieve his ripped superhero physique because he knew from the get-go what the long-term effects would be.
He said: "No, I love my job. And I love Wolverine,” Jackman said. “I got to be careful what I say here, but I had been told anecdotally what the side effects are of that. And I was like, ‘I don’t love it that much.’ So no, I just did it the old-school way. And I tell you, I’ve eaten more chickens — I’m so sorry to all the vegans and vegetarians and to the chickens of the world. Literally, the karma is not good for me. If the deity has anything related to chickens, I’m in trouble."

Coincidentally, the allegations of steroid use have been brought back to life now that Jackman is set for his triumphant return to the Marvel Universe. And considering he still looks physically imposing for his age, it's only natural for folks to speculate that he's on the juice but hey, if Wolverine says he's clean, I'll believe him.
Marvel Studios' Deadpool 3 is slated to hit cinemas on November 8, 2024.
