Will There Be Ms. Marvel Season 2? Iman Vellani And Crew React

Disney+'s Ms. Marvel undoubtedly ended with a bang! Just when we thought that it was going to be another snoozefest, that jaw-dropping finale absolutely caught the fans off guard, revealing that Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) is the first-ever MCU mutant and that the X-Men is finally setting foot into the MCU sooner than expected.

Although Kamala's origins retcon might have faced some backlash, fans are still looking forward to Ms. Marvel Season 2, but is it really possible?

Ms. Marvel Cast and Crew Reacts to Possible Second Season

During an interview with Comicbook.com, Ms. Marvel cinematographer Jules O'Loughlin admitted uncertainty about the show developing a second season. She said:

“Listen, hand on heart, I can honestly say that at this stage, I haven’t heard of any plans for a Season 2... there’s so much going on with Marvel, and there’s stuff happening and popping up all the time, but I haven’t heard of anything, Sharmeen [Obaid-Chinoy] hasn’t heard of anything. The next thing for Iman and the character of Kamala is to be in The Marvels. But at this stage, there hasn’t been any talk of a season two on Ms. Marvel.”

In an interview with Screenrant, producer Sana Amanat also weighs in on the possibility of Ms. Marvel Season 2, despite the series being labeled as a limited series.

"It is laid out as a limited series for her to go off and do other things. Like, it certainly establishes [her as a hero], she will be going into The Marvels next, so that’s kind of there. But I will say, I really hope that she is a part … you know, I hope we get a season 2 is all I’m gonna say. I hope we're a part of that."

While director Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi reacted to the Disney+'s show's possible second season in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Fallah responded with, "That'd be great. Very great," whereas El Arbi added:

"Awesome. A Ms. Marvel movie would also be awesome. If they ask us, we'll be there. We'll see what happens with The Marvels, where Iman is there, too. If we can get the chance to explore more of her world and her friends and her family, there are more elements to the story. We can go even further."

In a more recent interview with Slashfilm, the directing tandem hopes for more storylines for Ms. Marvel characters such as Red Dagger and Kamran in a second season. El Arbi noted that he wants to explore more of Kamala Khan's power, while Fallah expressed interest in adding "some X-Men flavor" in the next season.

El Arbi: "We’ll see what happens. If they ask us for a feature or a movie, we’d love to have more animation in it, and more craziness [laughs] and have manga sequences with her powers and all that. That’s the goal."
Fallah: "And obviously, see if we can add some X-Men flavor to it."

Iman Vellani Reacts to Ms. Marvel Season 2 and The Marvels

Ms. Marvel lead star Iman Vellani seems to be in the dark just like the rest of the production crew. Although she's still clueless about the possibility of Ms. Marvel Season 2, she revealed her hopes with StyleCaster regarding her potential return.

When asked about the long-running buzz about the Young Avengers project, she seemingly played it coy by encouraging the fans to convince Marvel President Kevin Feige first.

“I feel like Marvel could do something like that, right? There should be something. There’s one man you’ll have to convince.”

For now, it's safe to assume that Marvel Studios hasn't yet renewed Ms. Marvel for a Season 2. Nonetheless, Iman Vellani's future in the MCU is almost too certain as she is confirmed to return in the Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels. Kamala Khan will be joining her on-screen idol, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel, alongside Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau. The Captain Marvel sequel will also be the debut of Korean star Park Seo-Joon, rumored to play Marvel Boy.

The Marvels will premiere in theaters on June 8, 2022. Meanwhile, all episodes of Ms. Marvel are available to stream on Disney+.
