From the comics, Shazam and Black Adam has always been linked to each other, with a history that dates back to their origins and even their powers. That being said, following Teth-Adam's appearance last year, will he be in Shazam! Fury of the Gods?
Will Shazam! Fury of the Gods Have Black Adam?
Here's what to expect on Shazam! Fury of the Gods now that it is streaming on Max.
From the original plan, Black Adam was supposedly appearing in Shazam! Fury of the Gods but unfortunately, plans change over time and the film does not have Black Adam in it despite the history between him and Shazam.
Speaking with Vanity Fair, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson already revealed the reason why Shazam! Fury of the Gods would not have Black Adam, "When the first draft of the movie came to us, it was a combination of Black Adam and Shazam: two origin stories in one movie."
Johnson added, "I just knew in my gut, ‘We can’t make this movie like this. We would be doing Black Adam an incredible disservice.' It would’ve been fine for Shazam having two origin stories converge in one movie, but not good for Black Adam.”
There is, however, a cameo that has been confirmed to appear on Shazam! Fury of the Gods and that is Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman as seen in one of the TV spots of the movie but that's another thing to talk about in a different piece!

In real life, even Zachary Levi and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has some history over Shazam! Fury of the Gods because years before, when The Rock was signed in on DC, he was given a choice whether to play Shazam or Black Adam. He chose the latter, of course.
Given the changes in the leadership of Warner Bros. Discovery and a new plan being laid out for the DC Universe, there is still no clarity whether Johnson and Levi's versions of the characters would be retained in the new narrative that the new heads of DC are planning.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods follows Billy Batson and his foster siblings who will be facing another set of siblings, the daughters of Atlas, who are about to wreak havoc in the city as they plan to use a weapon of mass destruction.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods premieres on Max this May 23rd! Black Adam is currently available to stream on the same streaming platform.
