Will Galactus Be in the MCU or Any New Marvel Movies? Full Guide and Details!

Now that Thanos has been defeated in Endgame, Marvel is noticeably absent in big bad cosmic villains for the Avengers to face off against. In the entire first three phases of the MCU, Thanos was teased and introduced as a villain to be reckoned with. Now that he is gone, who will replace him?

The obvious answer is Galactus. Galactus is the original cosmic villain of the Marvel Universe. He first appeared in The Fantastic Four #48, titled "The Coming of Galactus". Since then he has been one of the most powerful foes for various heroes in the Marvel Universe, most notably, The Fantastic 4.

Galactus is very likely to appear in the MCU. He was previously unable to join the franchise because his movie rights were owned by 20th Century Fox along with The Silver Surfer and the Fantastic Four characters. Now that Disney has regained the rights, he is free to return to Marvel on the big screen.

This is the most likely place for Galactus to make an appearance. Disney confirmed the Fantastic 4 movie in December 2020. It is doubtful that Galactus will be the full-fledged villain of the film, as Marvel traditionally teases cosmic villains first.

We expect that Marvel would first introduce the Silver Surfer as a villain and later as a hero before Galactus makes an appearance.

Doctor Strange is an interesting character in the MCU as he predominantly fights mystical enemies and protects Earth from other dimensions rather than physical beings. That being said, Galactus has made many appearances in Doctor Strange comics over the years since the hero also traverses the cosmos on many occasions.

It's also been rumored that Dormammu will be taking over the cosmic villain role from Galactus in the Marvel Universe, which would put Doctor Strange at the forefront of the Avengers in defending Earth. Although, he did seem to neatly defeat Dormammu in the end of the first Doctor Strange movie.

Releasing November 5, 2021, The Eternals will be about a group of immortals created by Celestial beings. They live on Earth and have mysteriously shaped the history of the planet and civilization from behind.

Seeing as the Eternals were made by Celestial beings and that Galactus is a celestial himself, it is very possible Galactus makes a brief appearance of some sort in the film. He would not be the villain of this movie, but perhaps make a tease cameo in a flashback to the creation of the Eternals or a conversation with other Celestials.

Will Galactus appear in any other Marvel movies?

If he indeed becomes the main villain of Phase 4 or Phase 5 of the MCU, we can expect him to make brief cameo appearances in other Marvel movies. Other Marvel Movies and shows releasing soon include WandaVision, Black Widow, Shang-Chi, Loki, and Hawkeye. Of those, Loki seems to be the only show where a cameo would make sense.
