Why does Ishizaki like Ryuen in Classroom of the Elite? That’s a question that’s still on fans’ minds given the history between the two.
As one of the most intimidating characters of the series, Kakeru Ryuen has done a number on many students, including Ishizaki at one point.
Despite this, Ishizaki still likes him. Then again, Ishizaki is quite an interesting character who some fans think is underrated.

Daichi Ishizaki: An Underrated Fan Favorite
Given the dizzying array of Classroom of the Elite characters, not all students get the spotlight. For instance, Daichi Ishizaki has not played a big role in the anime and the light novel.
Despite this, many fans surprisingly like Ishizaki. On the Classroom of the Elite subreddit, for instance, there are many threads about how they like Ishizaki and his dynamic with Kiyotaka Ayanokoji.
Even though they’re not exactly close, fans have noted that Ishizaki (and Albert to an extent) seems to be quite chill and friendly with Ayanokoji, especially after the Ryuen and Kei fight.
Explaining the Dynamic of Daichi Ishizaki and Kakeru Ryuen
What’s interesting is that the opposite seems to be the case regarding Ishizaki and Kakeru Ryuen. Even though Ishizaki is on Ryuen’s side, Ryuen had Ishizaki beaten up before for failing a task.
By all accounts, Ishizaki should have a grudge against Ryuen. After all, it was noted that Ishizaki was an imposing figure during his middle school years, to the point that everyone was afraid of him.
Despite getting beat up under Ryuen’s orders, Ishizaki still falls in line for Ryuen, as is the case with other members of Class C.
The light novels don’t go into detail as to why, but there are already some fan theories behind their interesting dynamic.

Why Does Ishizaki Like Ryuen in Classroom of the Elite? Theories Explored
One possible reason Ishizaki still likes Ryuen is that he may respect those who are more powerful than him. That seems to be the case with Ayanokoji, as they still talk despite Ishizaki losing to him before.
If this is the case, it would make sense why Ishizaki still follows Ryuen. He may believe that Ryuen is the strongest in his class, therefore he’s worth following still.
Ishizaki isn’t a major player in the anime and the light novel so far, but that may change in the future given that some side characters have ended up playing bigger roles in later Classroom of the Elite arcs.
