Who Is Rick in Feud Capote vs The Swans?

Feud Capote vs the Swans episode 6, titled "Hats, Gloves and Effete Homosexuals," features Rick, a young man with whom Capote becomes entangled.

Rick is a handyman and Capote who sees honesty in his eyes, has a sexual encounter with him in an attempt to feel younger.

Vito Schnabel who portrays Rick has mentioned that his character truly cares about Capote and roots for him, although, of course, their relationship is like a ticking clock, not meant to last.

Rick does not fit in the high society Capote frequents and eventually, he leaves New York and returns to his fiance.

Vito Schnabel has previously appeared in Miral and Before Night Falls.

Rick is a fictional addition to Feud: Capote vs the Swans.

Despite not being based on a real person, however, Rick stands for some of Truman Capote's real-life experiences and gives a general impression of the author's love life at the time.

While Jack Dunphy was Truman Capote's long-term partner from 1948 until Capote died in 1984, the two didn't spend the entirety of those years exclusively together, and the relationship wasn't always smooth.

Capote often tended to self-sabotage and often had other lovers whom he would even bring into the lives of his friends even if they weren't long-term partners.

Rick's inability to integrate into high society and hold the kinds of conversations that might have been appreciated by Capote's friends illustrates this.

Shows with historical elements cannot know every single detail about a real person's life, so they might need to create some supporting fictional characters to illustrate a period in someone's life.
