There is little doubt that people are currently hyped up for Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings after the release of its latest trailer. After all, we finally got to see Michelle Yeoh in the teaser and it looks like her character will be playing a major role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick. But who is Jiang Nan and what is her connection to the titular hero?
Yeoh only appears in one scene in the latest Shang-Chi trailer but it's one that reveals more about her character's connection to Simu Liu's hero. "You are a product of all who came before you," Nan tells Shang-Chi. "The legacy of your family."
Interestingly, she continues by pointing out that he is his mother. "And whether you like it or not, you are also your father," Nan says. It's an interesting comment that greatly suggests the importance of Shang-Chi's mother in the story.
There are already several speculations about Nan right now. For instance, some believe that she is actually Shang-Chi's aforementioned mother and the scene features how she is telling her son to remember his past. On the other hand, it's more plausible for Nan to be someone who also holds a great power that could defeat the Ten Rings.
For now, Jiang Nan is still a huge mystery but we're hoping that we'll get to learn more about the character in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
