Forge Fitzwilliam is a human rogue and conman. He was a former companion of Edgin, Holga, and Simon before he betrayed them to work with Sofina, a Red Wizard of Thay. Edgin and Holga hold a grudge against Forge, as he was the reason why the duo was sent to prison after a job went wrong.

Before Edgin and Holga got captured, Edgin entrusted Kira to Forge. Bu Forge took in Kira and poisoned her mind, telling her that her father left her for gold. When in fact, the real reason why Edgin left was to retrieve the Tablet of Reawakening to resurrect his wife, Zia.

Forge isn’t the only villain in the film. It was revealed that he was working with Sofina, a powerful sorcerer among the Red Wizards of Thay.

The Red Wizards are a group of incredibly powerful and gifted sorcerers that belong to a magical cult in Thay. In the movie, Edgin is responsible for putting behind bars several Red Wizards when he was still working for the Harpers.

Sofina was an apprentice of Szass Tam, one of the most powerful Red Wizards in history. She served as an ally and advisor to Forge of Neverwinter. Sofina despised the living and thought that all humans should be slain and raised again as undead creatures.

Sofina, along with the help of Forge, proceeded to cast an ancient ritual to turn Neverwinter’s citizens into undead soldiers under her command. Forge, on the other hand, planned to leave Neverwinter with riches while Sofina casts her spell.

The Main Villain in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves: Szass Tam

The Red Wizards were led by Szass Tam, and their goal was to create a world inhabited only by the undead.

Szass Tam only makes brief appearances in the film, but he appears to be the one pulling the strings. The villain appears in the shadows as he instructs Sofina on what to do. He then appears in a flashback from Xenk's past.

While it was Sofina who was doing all the dirty work, it was Szass Tam guiding her through. With this, it’s safe to say that the main villain in the film is actually Szass Tam, albeit his short appearances. He was the mastermind, after all.

While Szass Tam doesn't have much screen time, he might have a bigger role later on should there be a sequel for the franchise.
