Urushi Yaotome, his senpai, is glad to finally have a shogi partner and endeavors to teach him all she knows.

By the beginning of the show, Ayumu has already fallen in love but resolves not to confess his feelings until he can beat Urushi in a game of shogi.

But Urushi is his senpai, much better at shogi, and totally aware of his crush. Ayumu declines to join more prestigious clubs so that he can keep being with Urushi.

So, how long will his commitment to beating her and his shyness keep him from confessing? And do Ayumu and Urushi end up together?
