Warner Bros. has just released the trailer for The Meg sequel, Meg 2: The Trench. In the trailer, we see Jason Statham’s Jonas Taylor back in action as he deals with not just one, but three megalodons (or Megs). He even kicks a giant shark. From the trailer, we can expect a lot of action and shark madness. So, when does Meg 2: The Trench come out?
When is the Meg 2 Release Date?
The movie comes out on August 4, 2023, in theaters. Plans for a sequel began not long after the first movie was released, and filming began in 2022. Thus, provided there are no delays, Meg 2: The Trench will be released in theaters on its scheduled date, August 4, 2023.
What is Meg 2: The Trench About?
Just like in The Meg, the sequel involves Jonas Taylor and his team dealing with a prehistoric shark, but this time, three Megs appear.
In Meg 2: The Trench, Jason Statham’s Jonas Taylor and Wu Jing lead a daring research team to explore the deepest depths of the ocean to investigate new creatures. From the trailer, we know that the megalodons are not the only creatures (or monsters) the team will face.
We see dinosaurs, a giant squid, amphibians, and other monsters in the trailer. The team also faces the biggest shark they have ever seen. Additionally, from the title of the movie, “The Trench”, we can expect a return to the Mariana Trench where the first megalodon came from.
Who Are the Cast of Meg 2: The Trench?
Jason Statham will reprise his role as rescue diver Jonas Taylor in Meg 2: The Trench. And while other characters may not return for the sequel, Statham is joined by supporting cast members Cliff Curtis, Sophia Cai, and Page Kennedy, who will be reprising their roles as Mac, Meiying, and DJ, respectively.
While Ruby Rose, Jessica McNamee, Rainn Wilson, and Masi Oka may not be returning for the sequel, there are new members in the cast.
The new cast members include Wu Jing, Sienna Guillory, Skyler Samuels, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, and Ray Strachan. Currently, we don’t know much about their roles. We have yet to find out when the movie hits theaters on August 4, 2023.
