One of the things that have made Guardians of the Galaxy a successful franchise is its music. In the first film, Blue Suede's Hooked on a Feeling gained popularity once again, particularly with the younger fans.
Now that the third GotG movie is nearing its release date, writer/director James Gunn shared the official soundtrack on Apple Music and Spotify.
Why Did James Gunn Choose Acoustic Version of Creep for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?
In the official Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 trailer, Radiohead's Creep can be heard in the background. This version, however, plays an acoustic and slower version compared to the original.
This is different from the previous movies where more upbeat songs were chosen to set the tone. Gunn explained this choice with Rolling Stone:
“It doesn’t start with ‘Mr. Blue Sky’ [like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2]. It doesn’t start with ‘Come and Get Your Love’ [like the first movie]. It starts with Radiohead’s acoustic version of ‘Creep.’ And that’s just a much different tone from the beginning than the other two films.”
The director also shared with Empire Online that the third movie is "about the Guardians saving themselves."
“It is a trilogy. The first movie is about the mother, the second movie is about the father and the third movie is about the self. That is the overall story.”

The official mixtape on Spotify contains 86 songs in total, which are part of the different GotG films and specials. For Guardians of the Galaxy 3 soundtrack, the songs in the movie include these tracks:

If you have an account on these streaming platforms, you can stream the movie's official soundtrack already. Meanwhile, the CD and digital download of the soundtrack won't be available until May 3rd.
