What is Amado's True Goal in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations?

Amado Sanzu has been one of the most talked-about characters in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga series by creator Masashi Kishimoto and artist Mikio Ikemoto, and it's easy to see why: the former Inner from the Kara organization and the head of its research and development division has already made it clear that he has his own motives, which would probably cause tensions with Boruto, Naruto, Kawaki and other ninjas at Konohagakure.

Just like the other members of Kara, Amado's loyalty to the villainous organization was due purely to self-interest, expecting to be granted something important for his services. He would remind Game of Thrones fans of Petyr Baelish (Littlefinger) because of his mysterious motives and cunning intelligence. Even after defecting to Konoha, Amado remained a schemer, reapplying a Karma to Kawaki without anyone's approval or knowledge, as well as a unique emergency shutdown command that only he can use.

But what is Amado's end goal? Why does he need Kawaki to achieve it? Let's take a deep dive to the character's motives.

What is Amado's ultimate goal?

The manga series established that Amado's to destroy the entire Otsutsuki Clan, whose actions he considers as parasitic. Ever since allying with Konoha, Shikimaru has been deeply suspicious of Amado, and it's easy to see why. The scientist keeps his intentions mysterious at all times, and is complicit in the multiple atrocities committed by Kara, including the deaths of numerous shinobi and the manipulation of Dr. Katasuke.

Amado swears his intentions was only ever to protect the world from Isshiki, and he had no choice but to play along as a faithful Kara member until the time to attack arrived, but various clues suggested that he has a hidden agenda.

Boruto Chapter 71 already revealed that Amado planted something else on Kawaki other than Karma. After surviving Code's attempts to kill Amado now that the villain's limiters have been rescinded, Amado tells Eida that Kawaki is the "ace up my sleeve".

"Kawaki has regained Karma and simultaneously inherited Isshiki's abilities," he reveals. "His power is likely to keep growing, and as of right now, there is no one in Konoha who can oppose Kawaki's power, including the Hokage except for me."

Amado then reveals that he also planted a unique emergency shutdown code in Kawaki that only he can use. He further explains: "It's Konoha's job to manage Kawaki, but this concerns the other villages too. So he's Konoha's number one priority. Meaning, they all have no choice but to rely on me."

However, Amado says that the emergency shutdown code is "just insurance" to protect his standing in the village, and that his "real objective is different."

When Eida demands Amado to spill it, Amado just tells her that he'll talk, but "it's a long story", and it's something he needs to tell Konoha as well, so he asks Eida to wait until they return there.

In Chapter 72, Eida threatens Amado, saying that if things will not go well between her and Kawaki, she will kill Amado out of spite. It's likely that the manga will clarify Amado's true goal when he arrives in Konoha. According to Chapter 74 leaked spoilers, Eida, Daemon, and Amado have arrived in Konoha, and it looks like Amado will start to reveal new information with Shikimaru and Naruto.

Is Amado's ultimate goal connected to Eida or his daughter?

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations already revealed that Amado had a daughter who died twelve years prior to Isshiki's assault on Konoha, so is he planning to revive his daughter?

One of the hottest theories being discussed in the Naruto fan community is the theory that claims that the clairvoyant cyborg Eida was the true daughter of Amado, but as of right now, there's no evidence that strongly proves that this is the case.

In the final shot of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapter 68, Amado is clearly shocked to see Eida's surprising entrance after Code infiltrates Konoha. This could mean that Amado is her blood relative.

This is all speculation for now, so fans will have to wait to find out Amado's ultimate goal. Hopefully, Boruto Chapter 74, which is set to release on Oct. 20, will provide some answers.
