Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) is the odd one out of the Avengers. The other superheroes have specific powers or assassin training like Natasha Romanoff, a.k.a Black Widow.

While he may not be the strongest in the group, he is still significant. But things for Hawkeye changed in What If...? Episode 8, where Marvel made him stronger than he had ever been.

Hawkeye More Powerful And Stronger In What If...? Episode 8

Hawkeye has nothing but his bows and arrows. He acknowledged his limitations in Avengers: Age of Ultron saying, "The city is flying, we're fighting an army of robots, and I have a bow and arrow."

However, things are different in the penultimate episode of What If...? In Episode 8, Marvel transforms Hawkeye into a stronger and more powerful being, Screenrant reported.

He has new gadgets like more powerful arrows that can emit forcefields, a cloak that can keep him invisible, and a new mechanical arm like that of Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) making him an enhanced human, but not a superhuman.

Hawkeye's version in What If...? Episode 8 is stronger than his version in the main MCU timeline.

Hawkeye's Mortality More Evident In What If…? Episode 8

Although Hawkeye is stronger in the penultimate episode of What If...? It doesn't reduce the fact that he is still human, which makes him heroic.

In fact, his mortality has become more apparent when he sacrifices his life to save Natasha. The scene is a direct reverse of Avengers: Endgame where both wanted to sacrifice their lives to save the other, but Natasha persisted. She saved Clint and ended up sacrificing herself for the soul stone.

Clint and Natasha have developed a strong bond since they have worked for S.H.I.E.L.D. Initially, Clint was sent to eliminate Natasha and he saw her skills. Their encounter ended up with him recommending her recruitment.

Natasha is close to Clint's wife and three kids. He also affectionately calls her "Nat."
